According to a report prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Commonwealth Games 2010 will create business opportunities worth around $6 billion in India, the highest ever in the history of the Commonwealth Games.
According to one estimate, more than 2m foreign tourists and 4.5m domestic tourists are likely to visit Delhi for the Games. The Organizing Committee has already floated about 20 tenders for various services like housekeeping, insurance, electronic timing and scoring, among others.
The massive expansion of infrastructure has also translated into hefty orders. To cite just one example, SAIL has supplied about 65,000 metric tonnes of steel for the construction activity.
