Event Calender - 2010 Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games holds special significance in the history of sports. It is a multi national sporting events, which takes place after four years. Commonwealth history dates back from 1930. It was the year when the first Commonwealth games were organized. Athletes from Commonwealth nations take part with high spirits in this grand event. This huge event involves the participation of as many as 5000 athletes.

In 2010 Commonwealth Games, as many as 17 sports are planned namely Wrestling, Weightlifting, Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash, Shooting, Rugby 7s, Netball, Lawn Bowls, Hockey, Gymnastics, Cycling, Boxing, Badminton, Athletics, Archery and Aquatics.

There is a strong probability of excluding triathlon from the games as no place in New Delhi suits this sporting event properly. Basketball is another sport, which is also likely to be eliminated. While Archery, tennis and billiards & snooker for men might be included in the list. Despite of the strong demand to include Cricket in the games it might not be included as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seems least interested in organizing Twenty20 Cricket tournament, but the organizers don't want to hold one-day tournament.

The official calendar for the upcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games is as under:
